The History of REDFIN

2002:Redfin was founded by David Eraker, Michael Dougherty, and David Selinger, initially incorporated as Appliance Computing Inc.

2004:The company was officially named Redfin, an anagram of "finder" and "friend".

2005:Glenn Kelman joined as CEO.

2006:Redfin's website began showing available homes on an interactive map.

2007:Redfin started to show available homes on an interactive map.

Redfin uses a "discount brokerage" model, offering lower commissions and leveraging technology to connect buyers and sellers with agents, while also focusing on customer experience and transparency.

Founding Story

Redfin was founded in 2004 by David Eraker, Michael Dougherty, and David Selinger. Eraker had dropped out of medical school at the University of Washington for a career in software design and Dougherty received degrees in electrical engineering and international studies from Yale University.
